One team has made the postseason eight straight seasons, including a championship. While the other has reached the Stanley Cup final two years in a row. Therefore, it’s no surprise the Avalanche and Stars are playing like true contenders after another dominant week.

The Avalanche lost for the second time in regulation last week but went on to win the next two games against the Rangers and Flyers, both contending teams. They will have some tough matchups against Nashville, Florida, and Seattle. At the same time, the Stars will see Winnipeg, Minnesota, and Florida. It’s like at this point, the Avalanche and Stars are doing everything right while the rest of the league tries to keep up.

The Capitals, Flyers, and Penguins continue to rise in the rankings after outstanding weeks. In fact, the Penguins and Flyers find themselves in the top ten for the first time this season. The Flyers are proving they can hang with the elite teams after strong performances against Colorado and New Jersey. At the same time, the Penguins are playing a winning brand of hockey.

Hurricanes have consistently been ranked in the top five in power rankings and in second place behind the Capitals in the Metropolitan Division. They look like contender with excellent forward depth, but they do have some tough matchups against the Blue Jackets and Lightning in the next week.  As for the Capitals, they lead the division, and they should reach the 20-win mark soon.

Also, the Golden Knights, Ducks, and Kings remain in the mix despite dropping in the rankings. It’s been fun to watch all these teams progress, though the Avalanche and Stars will be tough to defeat. So stay tuned for more sports and entertainment content.
