Five out of six points is an excellent start to the East Coast swing, and the Vegas Golden Knights hope to keep that momentum going.

Despite falling to the New York Islanders in the shootout on Tuesday, the Golden Knights are still riding a five-game point streak heading into this game. Coming away with half of the maximum number of points from this road trip is already a huge accomplishment for the Golden Knights, who have been challenged on East Coast trips before. Now, the team can focus on continuing to establish good habits while figuring out where they can get stronger.

Here are some points of emphasis they can use to accomplish that.

The last games against the Islanders and the New York Rangers followed similar scripts.

While the Golden Knights jumped out to early leads, they would eventually relinquish them and have to chase the game. Both resulted in last-minute goals and points for Vegas, but Bruce Cassidy likely does not want that to be the case forever. Expect Cassidy to stress a full 60-minute effort, hoping that the Golden Knights do not need to make another mad dash to secure a positive result.

Something Cassidy is going to know about Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet is that he preaches defensive responsibility, which means the Golden Knights will surely not get easy looks.

The key for the Golden Knights in the offensive zone will be to wear the Flyers out with sustained pressure, and they have the players necessary to do that. Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner and Mark Stone all had multi-point games against the Islanders, while Pavel Dorofeyev broke a scoreless drought and could start to get hot again. However the Golden Knights see fit, it is imperative that they make their opportunities on offense count.

While the Flyers mostly focus on 200-foot players, they have players whose primary focus is to put pucks into the net.

The likes of Trevor Zegras and Matvei Michkov can get behind defenders at a moment’s notice and produce high-quality chances, so the Golden Knights will have to keep their eyes up to make sure everyone is accounted for. Any defensive lapse can be punished at any time, so Cassidy will be stressing attention to detail throughout the game from his team. So long as they can make the life of Akira Schmid easy, the Golden Knights should be able to limit any damage.
