Carter Hart’s return to the NHL has been full of controversy, and now, the Golden Knights are sheltering him by blocking him from talking to the Flyers media.

Unsurprisingly, there has been plenty of backlash for the Vegas Golden Knights since signing Carter Hart, and recently, that intensity and opposition to the move has been taken up a notch.

That’s due to the team returning to Philadelphia, the former home of Hart in the National Hockey League, but in a move that shocked no one, the team revealed that they would be sheltering him, and not allowing him to play in his former home, instead making excuses for the move, as explained by Bruce Cassidy.

Carter wants to play every game. He’s a very competitive guy. We discussed coming out, you’d play two out of three this week, and coming out of the Ranger game, he wanted to get right back in the net. So that led to a decision on Long Island. We discussed it obviously with him, but that was more us making a decision. I had to get Schmid back in pretty soon coming off the shutout, that’s how we landed on it.

Now, in an effort to shelter him even more, the team have now blocked the media in Philadelphia from having access to their former goaltender, with many believing it would attract too many difficult questions for him to answer.

It’s likely only a matter of time until the team can’t protect him anymore, but given the lengths that they’ve gone to in order to do just that, it’s clear that they are still expecting plenty of backlash.

Ultimately, many question whether or not the Golden Knights should have put themselves in this position in the first place, but now that they’re here, this is likely the best move to make, but the more and more they do this type of thing, the worse it looks for the organization.
