Jacob Fowler finally stepped into the NHL on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.

Recalled Tuesday by the Montreal Canadiens, the 21-year-old goaltender was given the start against the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s a big jump after 15 games with the Laval Rocket this season. In the stands, the family was living it fully.
He had already faced Pittsburgh in camp on September 22, and he stopped 13 shots in 35 minutes. This time, it was the real test, with points in the standings.

Born November 24, 2004, in Florida, he was a third-round pick of the Canadiens. At Boston College, he won 57 games in two seasons, a total that stands out. With the Rocket, Fowler had a 10-5-0 record, a 2.09 goals-against average, and a .919 save percentage. He also already had three shutouts in 15 games, on top of his 10 wins.
The Penguins entered with a 14-7-7 record, and Sidney Crosby had 31 points, including 18 goals. The kind of setting where you learn fast, even without touching the puck.
