According to new reports from Oilers insider Tom Gazzola, all NHL teams will be getting a jersey makeover next season.

On a recent edition of the OilStream Podcast, Gazzola revealed that the NHL has designed a new set of alternate jerseys for each team to choose from for next season. It will be a themed jersey, like the NHL’s previous Reverse Retro trend.

There’s also something cooking for next year, league-wide.

So remember they had reverse retro one and two? League-wide theme coming in next year.

With discussion through the rest of the podcast, it seems possible it could be a riff on the MLB’s recent City Connect jerseys, which aimed to include some characteristics of each city.

Some other fans have claimed to have seen leaked information that supports the idea of league-wide new alternate City Edition jerseys. One detail about the Oilers, they may be looking at their first ever black jersey.

This should be welcome news to most NHL fans, and even to the Edmonton Oilers who have had great luck wearing alternates in recent years. We’ll see when the NHL formally announces the new threads are coming.
