The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues get together for their second matchup of the season on Friday night in St. Louis.

Coming off a shutout victory at home on Wednesday, the Chicago Blackhawks take the short flight south to St. Louis for a tilt with the St. Louis Blues. The Blues got off to a rough start in 2025-26, but find themselves within striking distance of the Wild Card picture. As for the Hawks, they’re the first team out of the Western Conference playoff picture.

Chicago Blackhawks at St. Louis Blues Preview

The St. Louis Blues are at an interesting point in their season. There is already trade speculation surrounding the team, suggesting they will sell some pieces prior to the trade deadline this season. However, they really aren’t far out of the playoff picture despite their early struggles.

The Blues are a deep team, spreading their scoring out over the whole roster. There is no Connor Bedard or Tyler Bertuzzi on their roster, leaning on a team effort to produce offense. Robert Thomas and last year’s breakout star Dylan Holloway are off to solid starts, but the rest of the team is struggling to find their groove. In addition, Jordan Kyrou is week-to-week, leaving the Blues without one of their top scoring threats.

The Blackhawks dominated the Blues earlier this season, establishing themselves as a team to keep an eye on. Now, the Blackhawks will need to channel that inner anger once again against the Blues for last season’s Winter Classic and take care of business in the “Show Me” state.

Per reports, it appears Spencer Knight will start in net for the Blackhawks on Friday, meaning Arvid Soderblom will see the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday at the United Center.
