The Minnesota Wild are coming off a dominant victory on Thursday night against a very good Dallas Stars team. After jockeying for the lead most of the game, they took a 3-2 lead and won 5-2 after landing a pair of empty netters.

John Hynes’ team hits the ice again on Saturday when they host the Ottawa Senators. Looking to spark another hot streak, they’ll want to start how they finished on Thursday.

The lines may see some shuffling too because Minnesota has recalled young defenseman David Jiricek.

David Jiricek back to Minnesota Wild

Last season the Minnesota Wild swung an expensive trade to secure the services of David Jiricek from the Columbus Blue Jackets. He didn’t take to his new team so quickly, and has bounced between the AHL and NHL. With 12 games for Minnesota under his belt this season, he’s now back from Iowa and ready for more.

Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman David Jiříček (YIHR-ih-chehk) from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Jiricek last played for the Minnesota Wild on November 11. He has registered nine shots this season but has not landed a point. Worth a minus-3, he also has recorded eight penalty minutes. In ten games with the Iowa Wild this year, Jiricek has one goal and two assists.

Last season Jiricek suffered a spleen injury that ended his season early. The MN Wild envisioned a scenario in which they improved upon Jiricek’s skating and got him to a place where he could be a top contributor on the ice.

A former sixth overall pick and just 22 years old, there’s still plenty of time for him to figure it out. Joining a good team though, Hynes is hoping something clicks soon.
