DANBURY, Conn. – University of Massachusetts field hockey senior Myrte van Herwijnen collected a pair of ECAC honors, which were announced on Friday. The goalkeeper was named the Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-ECAC First Team.

In her final collegiate campaign this fall, Van Herwijnen earned her third consecutive Goalkeeper of The Year honor and first in the MAC Conference. She also earned All-MAC First Team honors, completing a senior season in which she earned four MAC Goalkeeper of the Week awards and one NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week

The Huizen, Netherlands, native ended the year ranked as the national leader in save percentage at .826. Van Herwijnen also finished the 2025 season leading the MAC and ranking second nationally in goals-against average (0.72), while posting a 16-4 record with nine shutouts.
