Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson may have avoided a long-term injury.
TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reported Friday that the news around Ekman-Larsson’s lower-body injury “appears to be better than expected”, also adding that the 34-year-old blueliner could test out the injury and potentially be back in the lineup Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers.
The news appears to be better than expected for OEL. See how he feels in the morning but, the veteran Dman may test his injury tomorrow and if he feels he can play, he will. Surprising considering the pain he was in when he left last nights game.

Ekman-Larsson was injured in a 3-2 overtime loss against the San Jose Sharks Thursday, exiting the contest in the early stages of the third period.
The 34-year-old blueliner appeared to have his left foot tangled up with Sharks forward Adam Gaudette behind the Toronto net, and needed assistance from teammates and medical staff to get back to the dressing room.
“I think tomorrow we’ll know … hopefully he can get on the ice,” head coach Craig Berube told TSN’s Tony Ambrogio at practice on Friday.
The Karlskrona, Sweden native has four goals and 16 assists in 20 games played this year while logging 20:42 of ice time per night.
