Terms & Conditions Predators Open Road Trip on Saturday

The Nashville Predators are opening a road trek in this one. Nashville is having a disappointing season, but has been more competitive in the past few weeks. They have won six of their past nine games. This includes a road defeat against the Hurricanes last Saturday. They also played Colorado on Tuesday and posted a big 4-3 shootout home win. Next, the Predators had more success in a huge 7-2 home win against the Blues on Thursday. The Predators are six points out of a playoff spot.

Ryan O’Reilly has been one of the few positives. The veteran center has netted five points in his past five games. He now has 23 points on the year. He had an assist in the win against the Avs earlier this week. Luke Evanselista recorded 11 points last month and has six this month. The 23-year-old winger is having the best season of his career, amassing 23 points. Steven Stamkos has not been able to find a groove this season. The veteran center only has 15 points on the year.

Roman Josi is the most important player on this team. The 35-year-old defenseman plays huge minutes, averaging 23 minutes per game. He has five points in his past six games and 12 points and a -4 rating on the year.

The Predators’ goaltending has been shaky. Backup goalie Justus Annunen has issued a weak 3.82 GAA and an .851 save %. Jusse Saros is one of the better goalies in the NHL, but has been inconsistent this season as seen in his 2.99 GAA and an .897 save %, accompanied by an 11-10 3 record. He was in the net in the win against the Avs on Tuesday.

Nashville is averaging 2.8 goals per game, ranking them 26th. The Predators are conceding an average of 3.5 goals, pegging them near the bottom at 30th in the NHL.

Colorado Seeks Third Straight Win

The Colorado Avalanche are wrapping up a home stand in this one. Colorado is enjoying a superb season. They lead the entire NHL with 22 wins and 51 points, but are only four points ahead of the Stars atop the division. Colorado has won three of its past five games. The includes a rare road loss against the Islanders last week. The Avs netted a 3-2 road win against the Flyers and began this home stand with a 6-2 home win against the Panthers on Thursday.

Nathan MacKinnon is having a stunning season. The 30-year-old star center recorded an insane 26 points in November. He has amassed nine points already this month and leads the NHL with 53 points. He has two points in the defeat against the Preds on Tuesday. Martin Necas is having an outstanding season. The veteran has delivered 10 points in his past six games. The 26-year-old center was acquired by Colorado last season. He could have the best season of his career. He has reported 43 points in 30 games on the season.

Valeri Nichushkin has dealt with injuries this season, but is healthy now. The 30-year-old winger has managed three points this month. Nichushkin has registered 15 points in 23 games. The Avs have a great defense core. Cale Makar is the top candidate for the Norris Trophy. The 27-year-old defenseman has at least one point in nine of his past ten games. He has issued 35 points and has a stunning +29 rating on the year.

The Avs’ goaltending has been steady in most games. Backup Mackenzie Blackwood has netted a stingy 2.19 GAA and a .920 save %. Scott Wedgwood has been a backup a good portion of his career, but has been the Avs’ #1 goalie this season and is enjoying success. The 33-year-old net minder is sporting a strong 2.11 GAA, a .919 save %, and a 13-1-4 record. He had the night off in the win on Thursday.

Colorado is scoring an average of 4.0 goals per game, leading the NHL. The Avs are stingy defensively, keeping opponents to an average of only 2.2 goals, which is also first in the NHL.

Predators vs. Avalanche PickSpread Pick for Predators vs. Avalanche Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (5 units)

The Nashville Predators are having a disastrous season and have managed just four wins in 12 road games this season. The Colorado Avalanche are proving to be the best team in the NHL. The Avs have been especially dominant on home ice, where they have only dropped two games this season.

Furthermore, the Predators are one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL. They have an xGA/60 minutes of 3.39 goals and are pegged 30th in the NHL in goals conceded. This is good news for a potent Colorado offense that leads the NHL in many offensive categories, including goals scored and shots on goal. The Avs continue to win by huge margins and are going to win this one by more than one goal. Five of the Avs’ past six home wins have been by two or more goals.

Over/Under Pick for Predators vs. Avalanche

I expect plenty of scoring in this one. Nashville does not have a strong offense, but it has been scoring more goals in the past week. They have scored 21 goals in their past five games. They scored four goals in the win against the Avs on Tuesday, in which the over hit.

In addition, no one has been able to contain this dangerous Colorado offense. They are piling on the goals at home. They have scored 27 goals in their past five home games. Also, Colorado scored six goals in the win against the Panthers on Thursday.
