Detroit goaltending prospect Sebastian Cossa, like his Grand Rapids Griffins team, has been near perfect this season.
Cossa made 20 saves Saturday for his third shutout in 13 games in the Griffins 1-0 home win against the Rockford IceHogs. Cossa is now 12-1, while the Griffins are 21-1-0-1. The Griffins are the first team in the AHL’s 90-year history to win 21 of their first 23 games.
With the blanking of the IceHogs, Cossa lowered his goals-against average to 1.62 and raised his save percentage to .939.

John Leonard’s league-leading 19th goal, coming with the Griffins shorthanded, was the only tally of the game.
The Griffins have a quick turnaround, playing a road game against the Chicago Wolves today at 4 p.m. The Griffins lost to the Wolves in a shootout on Nov. 9.

Detroit prospect Brent Solomon (109th, 2025) scored a pair of goals to spark the U.S. Junior Select team to a 5-1 win against Canada West at World Junior A Challenge in Quebec. He finished the tournament with four goals and two assists for six points. He was tied for the tournament in goals and tied for second in points. This season, Solomon, shows 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points for the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede.
