San Jose Sharks top prospect Michael Misa is considered day-to-day to join Team Canada’s World Juniors training camp, but it’s not for an injury.
Reports came out on Friday about the Sharks center not being available for the start of the Niagara Falls training camp. The term “day-to-day” is pretty synonymous with an injury, but not in this case. According to head coach Ryan Warsofsky, Misa is not injured.
“We just kept him back for a couple days for his [conditioning loan]. He’ll be fine,” Warsofsky told reporters after the Sharks’ history-making comeback against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The San Jose Sharks’ No. 2 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft was returning from an ankle injury that kept him off the ice for over a month.
Misa played two games for the San Jose Barracuda while on a conditioning loan. He was held out of Wednesday’s lineup, but the reasoning wasn’t given by ‘Cuda coach John McCarthy. There were reports that Misa was even on the ice on Friday, working with San Jose Sharks legend and coach Joe Thornton.
Michael Misa was on the ice with Joe Thornton this morning, doing a variety of drills. We’ll see how long he remains in San Jose, but right now he’s considered day-to-day. #SJSharks #WorldJuniors

Warsofsky says the top Sharks prospect is still on track to join Team Canada at some point during their camp, but he’s just not sure exactly when. That aligns with the report from the team and others that Misa is still expected to join the team before the start of the tournament.
The Sharks return home from a 3-2 road trip with an off day on Sunday. The next update on Misa, as well as Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev’s status, is coming Monday.
