Maine scored three times in the second period to pull away and beat Lindenwood 7-2 in a non-conference men’s hockey game on Sunday in Orono.

The Black Bears have won three straight games and hit their winter break at 11-7-1. Maine is off until it heads to Denver for a pair of games on Jan. 2-3.

Justin Poirier gave Maine a 1-0 lead when he scored from Miguel Marques and Brandon Chabier early in the first period. Lindenwood (8-8) tied it 23 seconds into the second on a goal by Michael Bevilacqua, but Maine took the lead back on a short-handed goal by Owen Fowler 12 minutes into the second. Jaden Lipinski and Thomas Pichette added goals before the end of the period.

Thomas Freel, Poirier and Lukas Peterson scored for Maine in the third to make it 7-1. Jacob Fletcher scored late for Lindenwood.

Mathis Rousseau made 26 saves for Maine, while Klayton Knapp stopped 33 shots for Lindenwood.
