DENVER – The Denver Pioneers hockey team is ranked sixth in the nation in both the latest USCHO.com and USA Hockey polls that were released on Monday.

Denver stayed at its spot in the USCHO.com rankings for a third straight week while it dropped a spot in the USA Hockey poll after previously being at No. 5 the last two Mondays. The Pioneers split their series at St. Cloud State last weekend, winning 5-1 on Friday before falling 4-3 on Saturday in their first regulation loss since Oct. 25.

The top six of each ranking is the same, with Michigan holding onto the No. 1 spot while Wisconsin is at No. 2. Michigan State stayed at No. 3 and is followed by NCHC foes North Dakota at No. 4 and Minnesota Duluth at No. 5.

Dartmouth was the last remaining undefeated squad in the NCAA but suffered its first loss of the campaign on Sunday, falling in overtime against New Hampshire. Dartmouth ranks No. 8 in the USCHO.com poll and No. 7 on the USA Hockey list.

The NCHC has four teams ranked, with each in the top 10, joining the Big Ten as the only conferences with that notoriety. Western Michigan ranks No. 7/8, while Colorado College, Miami and Arizona State received votes in both polls. St. Cloud State was recognized by the electorate in the USCHO.com ranking.

Hockey East has the most teams ranked with six and seven, respectively, while ECAC is second in the USCHO.com poll with five. The NCHC, Big Ten and ECAC are all tied with four teams each in the USA Hockey poll.

UP NEXT: Denver is on its holiday break and resumes the season on Jan. 2-3 with a home non-conference series against No. 14/15 Maine. The series opener on that Friday is at 7 p.m. MT and will be televised on Altitude 2 while the Saturday contest is at 6 p.m. MT. Both games will also be broadcast on NCHC.tv.

About the USCHO.com: The Division I men’s ice hockey poll is compiled weekly and consists of 50 voters, including coaches and media professionals from across the country.

About the USA Hockey/The Rink Live Poll: The 31st annual USA Hockey Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association.
