Vancouver Canucks forward Arshdeep Bains has learned his fate on the National Hockey League’s waiver wire on Wednesday morning and where he’ll be suiting up next.
“Arshdeep Bains is on waivers.” Dhaliwal said yesterday.
He went on to add during Tuesday’s edition of Donnie & Dhali, “A few weeks ago, I had somebody tell me that they didn’t think he will clear waivers..”
It’s officially been 24 hours since the Vancouver Canucks placed the Surrey, British Columbia native on the NHL’s waiver wire and the team has shared some big news on social media.
Vancouver Canucks’ Arshdeep Bains learns his fate on the NHL’s waiver wire
In a post on the team’s X account, the Vancouver Canucks announced that Arshdeep Bains has cleared waivers and will be heading to the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Canucks.
“General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Arshdeep Bains has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).” the Canucks said.
Bains, 24, has spent the entire season with the Vancouver Canucks to this point after being named to the club’s opening night roster back in early October and while there was plenty of excitement regarding what he could bring to this group after a strong Calder Cup Playoff run and a solid training camp, he ended up struggling with the big club.
In 26 games this season with the Canucks, Bains managed just five points (one goal, four assists), 12 penalty minutes and had an even-rating while averaging 9:08 of ice time per night.
By clearing waivers and going down to the American Hockey League, it’ll allow Bains to work on the little things in his game that he needs to play at the NHL level, while also suiting up in a top-six role for Abbotsford with expanded responsibilities (power play, penalty kill, etc.).
Bains is set to suit up in the American Hockey League for the first time since the Calder Cup Final back in the spring and will be available for this weekend’s home back-to-back against the Tucson Roadrunners, affiliate of the NHL’s Utah Mammoth.
