Currently the Minnesota Wild own a 20-9-5 record. They have scored 11 goals in their past two games, and are coming off yet another shutout against the Washington Capitals. To say that things are going well right now would be putting it lightly.
The caveat to all of their momentum is that the MN Wild are also plying well while extremely hurt. They are without multiple top-tier talents, and the list is only getting longer. John Hynes will now be forced to add even more youth to his lineup.
Deamon Hunter injury forces MN Wild shuffle
General manager Bill Guerin swung a sizable trade to land defenseman Quinn Hughes. He’s also been forced to shuffle the fringes of the roster. More moves are coming ahead of Thursday night’s tilt against Columbus.
Finally, Carson Lambos’ NHL debut could be coming. Recalled with Daemon Hunt hurt. Jonas Brodin placed on IR to make room, but Brodin can be activated anytime he’s ready to return because it’s retroactive. Wild now down Brodin, Middleton, Bogosian and Hunt on back end

Believe David Spacek has been called up for #mnwild. So this is Lambos and Spacek’s second career callups. If either plays tonight, it’ll be their NHL debuts

Daemon Hunt exited the MN Wild’s recent contest against the Washington Nationals with a lower body injury. He joins a significant list of injured players, and forces coach John Hynes to lean into even more youth.
Carson Lambos was the Wild’s first round pick (26th overall) in 2021. He has yet to make his NHL debut. Across 26 AHL games this season, he has two goals and three assists while being worth a minus-three.
David Spacek was a fifth round pick in 2022, and has also yet to debut at the NHL level. While he has yet to score in 26 games this season, Spacek does have 11 assists to his credit. He has been worth a minus-five on the season.
The Minnesota Wild will look to keep their winning ways rolling even while bleeding talent at a substantial rate. If they can continue this run and then start getting players back, the rest of the league will be on notice.
MN Wild up against roster crunch
The Minnesota Wild pulled off a recent trade for star defenseman Quinn Hughes. It’s logical they may try to add a center before the trade deadline too. The problem is they may be backed into a corner.
With 7 injuries and all the minor leaguers up, #mnwild now have 29 players on payroll and no more room for additions. If they don’t start to get some guys back and reassign some guys, this could really affect trade deadline plans

At some point you can’t keep overcoming injuries. The MN Wild have added to the laundry list of players not on the ice, but they need to figure out a way for some of them to return.
John Hynes and his team are holding the line with talent out. The training staff has to keep doing their job behind the scenes to find a way for full strength to be achieved in short order.
