The Wild are 17-3-2 since Nov. 1 and 3-0 since acquiring defenseman Quinn Hughes on Friday via one of the NHL’s biggest blockbuster trades in recent memory (2-0 in games he’s played). They take a five-game winning streak into Thursday night’s game at Columbus.
Bottom-line: The Wild look like Stanley Cup contenders after a slow start in October.
Our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson caught up this week with former coach and current NHL Network analyst Bruce Boudreau. He coached Hughes with the Canucks and also helped call Tuesday’s win for Capitals TV. In other words, he watched the Wild closely on Tuesday, and really has all year.

Boudreau, 70, is currently a TV analyst for NHL Network TSN (Canada), and Capitals TV, along with having radio duties on the NHL channel on Sirius Satellite.
After his NHL playing career with Toronto and Chicago was over, Boudreau transitioned into coaching and eventually earned a job with the Washington Capitals from 2007 to 2012.
Following his time with the Capitals, Boudreau coached the Anaheim Ducks from 2012 to 2016 and then worked for the Wild from 2016 to Feb. 2020. The last team that Boudreau coached in the NHL was the Vancouver Canucks from 2021 to 2023.
