Laurel Hollow’s Marshall Warren is back with the Islanders for his third NHL tenure this season.
The Islanders recalled the 24-year-old defenseman from their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport prior to Thursday’s practice at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow.
Warren skated as an extra defenseman with Adam Boqvist forming the third pair with Scott Mayfield. The Islanders re-assigned 26-year-old rookie Travis Mitchell, who had one goal in nine games, to Bridgeport on Wednesday.
Warren, in his third season in the Islanders’ organization after playing four seasons at Boston College and one more collegiate campaign for Michigan, has two assists in two NHL games this season. He has three goals and nine assists in 17 games for Bridgeport.
Andrew Gross joined Newsday in 2018 to cover the Islanders. He began reporting on the NHL in 2003 and has previously covered the Rangers and Devils. Other assignments have included the Jets, St. John’s and MLB.
