The Quinn Hughes trade rocked the hockey world, and while fans expressed their sadness of seeing him go, it was only recently that teammates started sharing their feelings on the move as well, Brock Boeser spoke on the final night he spent with Hughes before he was off to Minnesota.

Boeser had dinner with Hughes along with Filip Hronek, Connor Garland and Tyler Myers.

“It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Quinn Hughes was treated with this much respect in the trade process, especially when considering he’s one of the greatest players the franchise has ever seen, however it’s still unfortunate that it came to this and that he is no longer part of the organization.”-Jaxon

Brock Boeser is happy for Quinn Hughes but sad to see him go.

Taj on X posted Boeser’s comments on the night Hughes was traded. For Boeser he wasn’t just losing a teammate, he was a losing a friend, they started their careers at the same time and have developed quite the bond.

Boeser on Hughes trade:

“I was feeling so many different emotions…Couldn’t really explain. I was sad. I was mad. I was happy for him. It was just a ton of emotions.»

“When people were texting me about his first game, I’m like, ‘Too early. Too early.”

Boeser didn’t speak much on Hughes as a player, but as a person. Sharing that he was one of the few teammates that attended Boeser’s dad’s funeral. There’s a reason why he was named captain, because he understood the role off the ice not just on it.

“”He was one of my few teammates that came to my dad’s funeral, and I think that kind of proved everything to me – the person he is and how he was raised by his parents,” Boeser says. “That meant a lot to me. He just has a good heart, and he cares about people, and he cares about hockey, and that’s just
who he is.”-Boeser

The captain will be missed in Vancouver, it’s the unfortunate part of pro sports, but at the same time the game of hockey brought both of them together. And just because they are on different teams now, doesn’t change the bond they’ve built.
