While Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens certainly would not refuse a bit of offensive reinforcement, here is an intriguing proposal.
This proposal is strictly hypothetical, intended to explore potential trade ideas rather than suggest an actual offer or negotiation. It is presented only to spark discussion.
A proposed trade involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators, to help Ivan Demidov
To add some punch (and a lot of experience) to the young Demidov’s line, here is the proposal:
TO MONTREAL
– Steven Stamkos and the remainder of his contract ($8 million per year until summer of 2028)
TO NASHVILLE:
– Patrik Laine’s expiring contract. Laine is a UFA this upcoming summer.
– Joshua Roy, who may benefit from a fresh start after struggling to establish himself consistently in Montreal.
– 2026 second-round pick
Would you accept this trade?
The Predators have also sent several scouts to observe Montreal and Laval recently.
Steven Stamkos, 35 years old, is one of the best goal scorers of his generation. He has accumulated more than 1,200 points and nearly 600 goals in his NHL career, in addition to being a multiple Stanley Cup champion.
He could truly be an excellent mentor for young Ivan Demidov (and for all the other Canadiens players, for that matter).
He had a very difficult start to the season, but things seem to be turning around for him, after recording 53 points last season with the Predators.
And you, would you trade Patrik Laine, Joshua Roy, and a second-round pick for Steven Stamkos?
