Nearly all the focus on the Calgary Flames right now surrounds Rasmus Andersson and his uncertain future.

The 29-year-old defenceman is set to become a UFA this coming offseason, and, barring some major changes, doesn’t appear likely to re-sign with the Flames.

Andersson is undoubtedly the best defenceman on the trade market this season, helping ensure that if, or perhaps when, the Flames move him, they should land quite the haul. That said, he isn’t the only player GM Craig Conroy and his staff could wind up moving on from.

The Flames have four other players on their current roster set to become free agents next summer, along with a few others who could be traded between now and next season.

* Justin Kirkland, Daniil Miromanov, Ivan Prosvetov, Clark Bishop, and Nick Cicek (AHL) are also pending UFAs

Devin Cooley

Age: 28
Current cap hit: $775,000
2025-26 stats: 12 GP, 2.35 GAA, .914 SV%

After a blazing hot start to the season, Devin Cooley has cooled off as of late, allowing eight goals on 37 shots over his past two starts. Still, the even-keeled goaltender’s overall stats through 12 games played are better than what most envisioned heading into the season.

Given that Cooley only has 18 NHL games under his belt, there likely won’t be a ton of interest in him approaching the trade deadline. That said, if he’s able to maintain this play when given opportunities going forward, don’t be surprised to see the Flames offer him an inexpensive extension to remain Dustin Wolf’s backup.

Ryan Lomberg

Age: 31
Current cap hit: $2 million
2025-26 stats: 30 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 2 PTS

A fan favourite in Calgary, Ryan Lomberg’s future is one that is very unclear at this point in time. The 31-year-old is very popular within the Flames dressing room and brings a level of energy that is hard to fully put into words.

That said, it’s impossible to ignore Lomberg’s limitations as a player. As the stats show, he brings very little offensively, making it tough to give him many minutes on a nightly basis. As difficult a decision as it may be, the Flames may be best to part ways with him, whether via trade or in free agency, in order to open up a spot for some of their youth.

Jake Bean

Age: 27
Current cap hit: $1.75 million
2025-26 stats: 16 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 2 PTS

We haven’t seen a whole lot from Jake Bean this season. The 27-year-old was healthy scratched early and often before being placed on the injured reserve exactly one week ago. On Thursday, head coach Ryan Huska confirmed Bean has undergone surgery and is out indefinitely.

Given how Bean has fared in a Flames sweater, it’s tough to envision any interest in him come the trade deadline. Fans should expect him to remain a part of the organization until the offseason, where management will part ways in order to give some of their blueline prospects their chance.

John Beecher

Age: 24
Current cap hit: $900,000
2025-26 stats: 19 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 2 PTS

Unlike the others on this list, John Beecher will be an RFA this offseason. This will allow the Flames to get a better look at their recent waiver pickup, who, since being claimed from the Boston Bruins, has logged 13 games.

To this point, Beecher hasn’t shown a lot to suggest he’s a player worth bringing back. He’s logged just one assist in a Flames sweater, while averaging less than 10 minutes per game. That said, he’s a very good skater and is still relatively young, meaning it’s too soon to write him off just yet.

Nazem Kadri

Age: 35
Current cap hit: $7 million
2025-26 stats: 34 GP, 7 G, 22 A, 29 PTS

Aside from Andersson, the player who has been subjected to the most trade speculation as of late is Nazem Kadri. This comes despite the fact that he remains under contract through the 2028-29 season.

The reason Kadri’s name is being talked about so much is due to the fact that he’s the best skater on a team who is well outside of a playoff spot. It’s tough to envision a deal getting done before the deadline, given the salary implications, but it will be an interesting story to monitor throughout next summer.

Blake Coleman

Age: 34
Current cap hit: $4.9 million
2025-26 stats: 34 GP, 10 G, 5 A, 15 PTS

Another Flames player who has term left yet has been talked about as a potential trade piece is Blake Coleman. The 34-year-old is having himself an impressive season, as he’s currently on pace for 24 goals.

Coleman has one additional season remaining on his contract, making his deal far less risky for other teams to take on than Kadri’s. He’s a versatile option that can play up and down the lineup, and would receive plenty of interest should he be made available ahead of the trade deadline.

Joel Farabee

Age: 25
Current cap hit: $5 million
2025-26 stats: 34 GP, 8 G, 8 A, 16 PTS

Joel Farabee hasn’t been discussed much, if at all, as a potential trade candidate. Acquired in a trade from the Philadelphia Flyers less than a year ago, he’s still working on establishing himself with his new team.

Farabee by no means has been bad this season. That said, it’s tough to envision him fitting in with this team long term with all the prospects they have on both wings. Like Kadri, it is extremely unlikely we see him traded this season, but it could be an option worth exploring in the summer.
