Last night at the Bell Centre, during the matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Chicago Blackhawks, we witnessed a rather unusual scene.
A video made its way around the NHL and spread across the web in the last few hours, drawing plenty of laughs.
Lane Hutson literally struck up a little chat with the referee while play was still going on last night.
Here is what Lane Hutson had to say to the referee
Based on what was heard, what is being shared on social media, and what Pierre Houde mentioned live on RDS, Lane Hutson was asking where the line was for penalties “for boarding.”
Let’s just say the young Hutson did not seem to agree with the referee’s decision on the previous sequence.
It gave us a good laugh and it was simply perfect coming from Lane Hutson. He then backed it up on the ice with a beast-mode performance, tallying three assists in 26:19 of ice time and becoming the first Canadiens defenseman to reach 60 assists in a calendar year.
There is also the following sequence that generated some buzz during Thursday night’s game between the Canadiens and the Hawks.
“Apparently it is entirely legal to kick a player’s legs out from under him as long as it’s from the front.”

The Montreal Canadiens return to action this Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins to begin a short sequence of two games in two nights.
We will soon have answers regarding the lineup heading into those two matchups.
