Carolina Hurricanes Forward Seth Injured on Friday Night
Jarvis was injured in overtime of the Hurricanes 4-3 shootout loss to the Panthers on Friday. The young forward left the game with 20 seconds left in the overtime period after crashing into the left goalpost at full speed. Jarvis was being pursued by Evan Rodrigues as both were rushing the net. The Hurricanes forward had to helped off the ice and down the tunnel.
Jarvis has only played for the Hurricanes across his five-year NHL career. The Winnipeg native leads Carolina with 19 goals so far this campaign. He’s averaged an ice time of 19 minutes, four seconds so far this season. He has a Corsi for of 63.8 and a relative Corsi of 5.3.
The 23-year-old has 115 goals and 125 assists for 240 points in 337 career games. Carolina originally drafted him in the first round, 13th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.
What It Means
Carolina will mis one of its top players as head coach Rod Brind’Amour said that Jarvis will be out for a while. Jarvis was second on the team in points with 29.
The Hurricanes currently sit in first place in the Metropolitan Division with 47 points, while the Washington Capitals are in seconds with 42. The young forward has played a hand in the Hurricanes’ success over the past few seasons.
Jarvis scores plenty of goals, but he’s also solid in his own end of the ice. He’s received Selke Trophy votes a few times in his short career. The Manitoba native is one the team’s more complete players and Hurricanes fans hope he’s back sooner rather than later.
