No. 7 Maple Grove boys hockey faced off against No. 3 St. Thomas Academy on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first period, Maple Grove broke it open with a goal from Wyatt Kuznik to make it 1-0.

St. Thomas Academy’s Cole Braunshausen scored for the Cadets to make it 1-1 at the end of the first half.

The Crimson retook the lead in the third with a goal from Lane Glende to take the 2-1 lead.

With 2:59 remaining, William Mikan tied the game for the Cadets and sent it to overtime.

After 43 seconds, Jaden Roueche walked it off for the Crimson and took down St. Thomas Academy.

The Cadets move to 7-2-1 after the loss, and the Crimson move to 6-3.

Maple Grove returns to the ice on Dec. 29 at Champlin Park, and St. Thomas Academy picks up next Saturday against Cretin-Derham Hall.
