The Stars announced Friday that Seguin will be re-evaluated after the Olympic break, following his surgery on Tuesday.

Seguin, 33, was injured back on Dec. 3 against the New York Rangers when he got tangled up with defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov in the first period.

The Stars forward required assistance from multiple teammates and an athletic trainer to get off the ice, and additional help to get down the tunnel to the locker room.

It is the second lengthy injury for the veteran forward, who missed most of last season after undergoing hip surgery. He returned for the Stars’ regular-season finale and their playoff run to the Western Conference Final.

In 27 games this season, Seguin has scored seven goals and recorded 17 points. Since joining the Stars in a trade with the Boston Bruins, the Brampton, Ont., native has 311 goals and 705 points in 813 games.
