Interest around National Hockey League remains sky-high for Vancouver Canucks pending unrestricted free agent forward Kiefer Sherwood, who expected to be moved by March 6th.
With the National Hockey League’s holiday roster freeze now in effect, trade talks and player movement is officially on hold through December 28th, however afterwards, expect action to pick up in a big way leading up to the Olympic break in February.
“According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that – in an effort to get younger – they are willing to listen to offers on ‘veteran players.'” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said.
Six teams linked to Vancouver Canucks pending UFA forward Kiefer Sherwood
Thanks to a strong start to the 2025-26 season, Kiefer Sherwood has been drawing plenty of interest from teams around the National Hockey League and is poised to be one of the top names available on the market leading up to the deadline in early March, which is good news for the Vancouver Canucks as they’re seeking a first round pick in return for the Columbus, Ohio native.
“I am hearing it’s a first round pick plus for Kiefer Sherwood.” David Pagnotta said last month.
Those six teams, according to Garrioch, are the Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“The Ottawa Citizen’s Bruce Garrioch reports that six NHL teams have “kicked the tires” on a trade for Sherwood:
Boston Bruins
Dallas Stars
New York Islanders
Ottawa Senators
Philadelphia Flyers
Tampa Bay Lightning” Billy Heyen of The Sporting News said.
The amount of interest in Kiefer Sherwood isn’t surprising as he’s taken his game to an entirely new level over the last 14 months, setting the NHL record for most hist in a single-season during the 2024-25 campaign and is exactly the type of players teams need for a long, grueling run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
