Trade speculation surrounding Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson has been consistent dating back to last season and should pick up as the 2025-26 season progresses.

The veteran blueliner understands his future is up in the air, but remains unfazed by all the chatter and rumours swirling about him.

Last month, Andersson told Sportsnet last month “whatever happens, happens.”

On Saturday’s “After Hours” segment on Hockey Night in Canada, the 29-year-old reiterated his position and confirmed all the chatter is not only not affecting his game, but also the last thing on his mind.

“It humours me,” he said.

“We all know my contract situation. Nothing has changed from the summer until now. I haven’t really thought about anything except playing well for the Flames.”

Andersson, who has a six-team no-trade list in his contract, also poured cold water on reports that he is indecisive in his decision making as it relates to wanting to re-sign with the Flames or not.

“It’s the old saying, ‘it takes two to tango,’ right? Obviously, I’ve loved every second of me playing for the Flames,” he stated. “Let’s just leave it as it takes two to tango.”

The Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vegas Golden Knights and Tampa Bay Lightning are among the teams that have expressed interest in Andersson in the past.

Andersson is in the final year of a six-year, $27.3 million contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
