For just the second time this season, the Detroit Red Wings won the second game of back-to-backs.
Moritz Seider scored with 23.3 seconds left in overtime to give the Red Wings a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Sunday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena.
Seider wired an Andrew Copp pass into the top shelf for his sixth goal of the season and 21st point in the past 21 games.

Detroit is 2-6 in the second game of back-to-back games during the 2025-26 NHL campaign.
Ethan Frank opened the scoring for Washington in the first period. Taking advantage of a fall by Red Wings defenseman Albert Johansson, Frank burst in alone and tucked the puck through the legs of Detroit goalie Cam Talbot.
Lucas Raymond tied it in the second period during a Detroit power play. He fired a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that banked in off the left goal post.
John Leonard gave Detroit the lead later in the period when Alex DeBrincat’s shot deflected off him and into the Washington net. It was his second goal in as many games.
Frank’s second of the game, a quick wrist shot through Talbot’s legs in the third period, sent the game to overtime.
Charlie Lindgren made 24 saves for the Capitals. Talbot had 31 saves for the Red Wings.
