A trade proposal has emerged this week that would send Vancouver Canucks pending unrestricted free agent forward Kiefer Sherwood to an Eastern Conference team.

A trade proposal has emerged this week that would send Vancouver Canucks pending unrestricted free agent forward Kiefer Sherwood to an Eastern Conference team.

Among the teams that have shown interest in Sherwood since that news broke include the Dallas Stars, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Boston Bruins, the latter of whom reportedly circled back on the 30-year-old winger recently.

“Another NHL source has confirmed to R.org that the Bruins have circled back on Sherwood.” Jimmy Murphy of RG Media said.

Trade proposal emerges sending Kiefer Sherwood to Eastern Conference team

In an article for ESPN last week, Rachel Kryshak shared six trades that she thinks teams around the National Hockey League should make once the holiday roster freeze wraps up on Sunday, December 28th.

Two of Kryshak’s six trades involve the Vancouver Canucks, with one of them sending a trio of players – Kiefer Sherwood, Conor Garland & Nils Hoglander – to the Buffalo Sabres for former first overall pick Owen Power and former eighth overall pick Jack Quinn.

Meanwhile the other trade also involved Kiefer Sherwood, with Kryshak suggesting a deal with the Boston Bruins that would see the Columbus native land in Beantown in exchange for a second round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.

“Boston Bruins get:
F Kiefer Sherwood

Vancouver Canucks get:
2026 second-round pick

Vancouver was said to be seeking a first-round pick for Sherwood given his cap hit and hot start to the season. However, he has scored one goal in the past 12 games, and is currently playing on the third line — where he would likely play on a contender. Sherwood’s physical play has earned him the “hard to play against” moniker, something that is valuable in the playoffs.” Kryshak said.

As Kryshak mentions, the return in this mock trade is less than what the Vancouver Canucks are seeking in return for Kiefer Sherwood, with reports indicating that Patrik Allvin wants a first round pick and another asset for him, but with his inconsistent play since the middle of November, the club may have to settle for less, especially if he’s not able to pick up the pace offensively between now and Friday, March 6th.
