Belfast Giants headed into the Christmas period in the best possible way with a dominant 7–1 home win over Dundee Stars at the SSE Arena.
“I don’t remember the last time I scored four, but it feels good for sure,” said Scott Conway after the game. “Hopefully we’re back on track and we keep going from here.”
The Giants opened the scoring on the power play just seven seconds after Jackson DeSouza took a hooking penalty. Marcus Eriksson teed up Conway, who finished into the roof of the net from the left circle at 09:44.
Belfast doubled their lead with 53 seconds left in the first period when Jordan Kawaguchi set up Nicolas Guay to drive into the right circle and fire past Jarrett Fiske at 19:07.
The Giants took full control with four goals in the middle period. Ryan Smith struck first at 23:15 with a quick shot off an offensive zone faceoff win. Conway added his second less than two minutes later, pouncing on a rebound at 24:40, and completed his hat trick at 29:26 by again reacting quickest in front.
“We played well defensively and created a lot of offence,” Conway added. “It’s good to see us not only score on the power play but to score several goals at five-on-five as well.”
Guay and Mike Lee combined for Belfast’s sixth at 34:51, with Guay finishing a one-timer after a neat passing exchange. Dundee pulled one back late in the period when Benjamin Almquist set up Keanu Yamamoto to finish into the roof of the net at 38:59.
Conway rounded off the scoring in the third period with his fourth of the night to complete an emphatic Giants victory.
