A former Michigan State hockey star and current Detroit Red Wing has officially made his return to the lineup, being activated off of injured reserve on Sunday afternoon.
Mason Appleton was activated off of IR after sustaining a lower-body injury on November 29th, he has missed nine games since. The Red Wings game against the Washington Capitals on Sunday afternoon was his return to the lineup, where he logged 13:08 of ice time.
In 26 games played this season, Appleton has recorded three goals and six assists, playing an integral role in the Red Wings efforts to play better defensive hockey, while also being a strong penalty killer.
