Alaska Anchorage will ring in the new year in the Copper State when it participates in the Desert Hockey Classic Jan. 2-3. Alaska Anchorage will face the hosts Arizona State and either Air Force or Michigan Tech in the second game. 

Series

Alaska Anchorage is 3-8-0 all-time against Arizona State and is 0-6-0 against the Sun Devils in Arizona. Alaska Anchorage leads the all-time series with Air Force 16-8-2, but trails the series with Michigan Tech 32-38-17. 

Coach Shasby

Head coach Matt Shasby enters his fourth season leading the Seawolves. The Anchorage, native has a 32-68-8 mark as the UAA bench boss. 

Chris Kamal and Aaron McPheters return as assistant coaches for the Seawolves, while Anchorage native Evan Trupp has joined the staff as an assistant coach.  

Multi-Point Game

Aiden Westin scored one goal and assisted on another in the win over Maryville. The Anchorage native is tied for sixth on the team with four points (three goals, one assist). 

New Guys

UAA has added a pair of forwards, Jacob Terpstra and Aaron Reierson, to the roster. 

Terpstra, a native of Shelby Township, Mich., scored 66 goals and 69 assists in 203 games during his junior career with the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL). 

Reierson, a native of Moorhead, Minn., scored 39 goals and 28 assists in 115 games for the Langley Rivermen (BCHL) and Fargo Force (USHL). 

Shutout

Greg Orosz made 12 saves on his way to a shutout win over Maryville. He has a 7.60 goals against average and an .836 save percentage this season. 

Point Streak

Joey Potter and Conor Cole have tallied a point in each of their last two games for the Seawolves. 

Potter has seven points (three goals, four assists) this season, including one goal and three assists in his last four games. 

Cole has six points (three goals, three assists) this season, including a goal in each of his last two games. 

Penalty Kill

UAA is 3-5-0 this season when it does not allow a power-goal and 0-6-0 when it gives up a power-play goal. 

Last Time Out

Alaska Anchorage defeated Maryville 4-0 in an exhibition game on December 10th.        

Looking Ahead

Alaska Anchorage will travel to America’s Dairyland for a two-game tilt at No. 2 Wisconsin Jan. 9-10.Â
