We have some action in Brossard today for the Montreal Canadiens.
Samuel Montembeault skated in Brossard this Monday morning, just minutes ago, wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey. On the ice, the goaltender was using Canadiens equipment and not that of the Laval Rocket.
Despite that, he was accompanied by Marco Marciano, the Rocket’s goaltending coach, which quickly drew attention at the CN Sports Complex.
Number 35 is mainly trying to get some rhythm back in his game, without being forgotten by Canadiens management (while the young Jakub and Jacob continue to shine).
Samuel Montembeault draws attention in Brossard
The plan discussed around the club is simple on paper: practices in Brossard on Monday and Tuesday with Marciano, while the organization manages the timing of his return.
However, the Canadiens have only indicated that his return will come after the Christmas break. They have not publicly confirmed each step of his routine, which explains the uncertainty around his day.
Seeing him in Brossard wearing a Canadiens jersey while a Rocket coach is by his side sums up the situation well: they want to get him back on track while keeping him close to Montreal.
“The Rocket’s goaltending coach is giving Montembeault a lot of explanations during practice, and doing so in french.
The goaltender is receptive to the explanations.”

This confirms the change of plan for the Montreal Canadiens, and seeing him like this in Brossard means he is still not ready to officially rejoin the team.
