We have some action on the Brossard side of things involving the Montreal Canadiens’ new forward, Phillip Danault.

Phillip Danault laced up his skates in Brossard this morning, reuniting with the Montreal Canadiens jersey.

The 32-year-old center has chosen to return to his old number 24, the one he proudly wore during his best seasons at the Bell Centre.

A first decision for Phillip Danault: he’s back with number 24

His return to the ice, noticed by several onlookers, marks a first symbolic decision: wearing the same number he had back when he was part of one of the Canadiens’ most reliable trios.

His arrival brings a certain wave of nostalgia around the team, still marked by his contribution during the 2021 Stanley Cup Final run.

During his press conference, the Quebec native from Victoriaville described the return as “natural,” citing his attachment to the city and its fans. He also mentioned wanting to “help the young players grow in the Montreal environment,” a role he has already embraced over the past few seasons with the Kings.

The Canadiens’ schedule is shaping up to be busy through the end of December, and the head coach could test Danault quickly at the center of a responsible line, possibly against the Boston Bruins.

See the images here, as shared by the excellent Patrick Guillet.

It’s great to see Phillip Danault back in a Montreal Canadiens uniform, especially with his famous number 24.
