The Carolina Hurricanes have the most points and most wins in the Eastern Conference, but the team will be without injured stars Jaccob Slavin and Seth Jarvis for the immediate future.
Both were placed on injured reserve after being injured in Friday’s game against the Florida Panthers on a hit by AJ Greer. Slavin, who missed 29 games with a lower-body injury, is week to week with an upper-body injury. Slavin has been limited to five games this season.
Jarvis is expected to be out for a while after being tripped by Florida’s Evan Rodrigues and colliding with the goal post.

Carolina (22-10-3, 47 points) hosts the Panthers (19-14-2, 40 points) on Tuesday night at Lenovo Center. The Panthers, the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions, defeated Carolina in the conference finals last year and won 4-3 in a shootout on Friday night, rallying from a 3-0 deficit.
Carolina, the top team in the Metropolitan Division, hosts Atlantic Division-leading Detroit on Saturday. That game will air on WRAL at 7 p.m.
“It’s been all year, we’ve dealt with (injuries),” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “A lot of teams have dealt with it, maybe not to this extent, but for the whole year, it feels like we’ve had maybe two games where we’ve had our full group.”
Carolina will also be without Jordan Martinook against the Panthers on Tuesday night. He has missed the previous two games.
Jarvis is second on the team with 29 points, trailing only Sebastian Aho (31). Aho is one of seven Hurricanes to play in all 35 games this season.
Carolina is 11-5-1 at home, and the Hurricanes are 19-2-3 when they score at least three goals.
For the 100th time. This is not an attempt to play the puck. It’s a violent strike at the legs designed to impact the shot. With zero regard for consequences. It’s a flat out dirty play. https://t.co/HfkF0rcwBW
