We are very interesting situation developing in the NHL has a few teams are looking to make coaching changes.  In general, these changes usually are’t made right around Christmas time, although the Maple Leafs did famously fire a guy on Christmas Day a few years back.

Currently up for bid is Longtime veteran NHL Coach Peter Deboer…

On Deboer…NHL Coaching Career: He served as the head coach of the Florida Panthers from 2008 to 2011, the New Jersey Devils from 2011 to 2014, the San Jose Sharks from 2015 to 2019, and the Vegas Golden Knights from 2020 to 2022. He is 662-447-152 in 1,261 regular-season games with the Panthers, New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights and Stars, and 97-82 in the playoffs.

Notable Achievements: He has gone to the Stanley Cup Final twice, with the New Jersey Devils in 2012 and the San Jose Sharks in 2016. DeBoer holds a 9-0 record in Game 7s, solidifying his nickname as “Mr. Game 7.”

What is going on behind the scenes?

So yesterday the Toronto Maple Leafs fired an assistant coach, would you buy firings is always a fascinating one for me give him with the assistant coach generally does…  NHL assistance are kind of the go-betweens between players and coaches and often they’re  the good cop to the head coaches bad cop..  So an assistant rarely gets fired alone since his is really a mediator of sorts…There has been a lot of chatter around Toronto that Craig Berube could be on his way out unless the Leafs turn it around and this assistant firing is a warning shot…

I have been talking to some insiders in LA who are convinced that they are closing in on hiring Peter Deboer,,,As a longtime coach of the enemy Sharks there appears to be a strong willingness tp bring hi back out West…

And there is another team…

I have been told a third team is close to, or already has reached out to DeBoer….they are being very secretive about what team this is, but an educated guess could be the Sabres,,,,

Why Peter Deboer is available…Dallas fires him after the Star fell in the playoffs and Deboer refused to change goalies ….However,  prior to that he was really good in Dallas…So this is a rare chance to get one of the top guys in the NHL…

Where do you think he ends up?

Do you want him on your bench?
