Tuesday night marks the final night of NHL hockey until Saturday as teams will take a 3-day break for the Christmas holiday. Given that this is the last night of hockey for a few days, the NHL made sure to stack tonight’s slate. There are 13 games on tap beginning at 4:00 pm ET which makes for a great night of watching some high-class hockey.Â
If you will be tuning in and want to have some action, here are a few betting markets that may be worth considering — with lines and odds courtesy of BetMGM at the time of writing. Also, be sure to check out all of our NHL predictions for every game throughout the season, including all 13 matchups tonight.
NHL best bet: Montreal Canadiens vs Boston Bruins over 5.5 (-130)
Game total overs have trended in both Canadiens and Bruins games all season. Their combined over/under record this year is 43-28-2. Combining Canadiens road games with Bruins home games, the over/under record is 21-14-1. The pure matchup and recent performances of each team give appeal to another higher total.
The Canadiens and Bruins rank 8th and 9th respectively in the NHL in goals scored per game, and their power plays ranks 6th and 7th. Those are very respectable offensive outputs for Montreal and Boston. The other side of the puck tells a different story. The Canadiens and Bruins rank 24th and 22nd respectively in goals allowed per game, and their penalty kills rank 22nd and 19th. The matchup of productive offenses facing weaker goal prevention is a great recipe for another over to reinforce season-long totals trends.

NHL best bet: Minnesota Wild 3-way ML over Nashville Predators (-120)
The Wild have been buzzing since the start of November, and only kicked things into hyperdrive after their acquisition of Quinn Hughes, one of the best defensemen in the world. Minnesota’s 7-game winning streak came to a screeching halt on Sunday when they ran into the buzz saw that is the Colorado Avalanche.Â
After losing 5-1 to the Avalanche, the Wild will be anxious to get back on the ice and back in the win column. Prior to that loss, Minnesota bullied teams during their 7 consecutive wins as they outscored opponents 33-10. That is an average score of 4.71-1.43 for an average win by nearly 3.5 goals. The Predators are playing well right now. But for all intents and purposes, they make for a great get-right spot for a Wild team that is clicking on all cylinders for nearly 2 months, especially in the last 2 weeks.

NHL best bet: Colorado Avalanche -1.5 over Utah Mammoth (+100)
Speaking of the buzzsaw that is the Colorado Avalanche, they get nice plus-money value here to essentially do what they have done all season. This team has been far and away the best team in hockey since the first drop of the puck this year. Colorado has by far the best goal differential in the NHL of +61, and their average game score of 4.03-2.17 gives them a +1.86 goal differential per game. If the Avalanche just hold to their season averages, they statistically will cover and hit this plus-money puck line.
The Mammoth are not exactly a doormat. But they more than have their work cut out for them in this one. Playing the Avalanche is already a tall task. Playing them in Colorado only amplifies the disadvantage. Unsurprisingly, the Avalanche are the best home team in the league as their 14-0-2 record at home comes out to a .938 point percentage, along with a +2.57 goal differential per game on home ice. Colorado is 11-5 against the spread at home this year, and this +100 looks too good to pass up for them to do what this team does.
