The Metropolitan Division-leading Carolina Hurricanes (22-10-3, 47 points) look to stop a two-game skid on Tuesday night when they host the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers (19-14-2, 40 points) at the Lenovo Center.

Carolina blew a third-period lead for the second straight game on Saturday night, losing a 6-4 road decision to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Hurricanes led 3-0 12:27 into the game and, after Tampa Bay came back to tie it in the second period, reclaimed the advantage on Andrei Svechnikov’s goal 2:47 into the third. The lead lasted just 26 seconds before the Lightning tied it and then took the lead at 6:38 of the final period. Eric Robinson, Jackson Blake, and Bradly Nadeau had Carolina’s other tallies.

The Panthers battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the second period before the visiting St. Louis Blues reclaimed the lead with a second left in the period and pulled away in the third for a 6-2 victory. Sam Reinhart tied the game on the power play at 12:45 of the second after A.J. Greer got Florida on the board at the 7:35 mark. 

Florida came back from a 3-0 deficit with 12:26 left in regulation to stun the Hurricanes in a 4-3 shootout on Friday night in the teams’ first meeting of the season. With top goal-scorer Seth Jarvis (upper body) on injured reserve, Sebastian Aho leads Carolina with 13 goals and 31 points while Blake and Jordan Staal each have 10 markers. Brandon Bussi is 11-1-1 in 13 starts with a shutout, a .913 save percentage, and 2.11 goals against average. Brad Marchand’s 20 goals and 40 points lead the Panthers, with Reinhart scoring 19 goals thus far. Sergei Bobrovsky has a 15-8-1 record with three shutouts in 24 starts, posting an .888 save percentage and 2.81 GAA.
