Best NHL props for Wednesday 12/17/25

Jason Robertson 4+ shots on goal (+135)

The matchup between the Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings starts a little earlier than most games at 6:30 p.m. EST, so be sure to jump on this line quickly. Only one player in the NHL has more shots than Jason Robertson, who’s tied with Cutter Gauthier for the second-most attempts of any skater with 141. The leader? Unsurprisingly, it’s Nathan MacKinnon with 161. Regardless, the Stars are playing some excellent hockey with Robertson at the forefront amidst one of the most impressive scoring streaks in recent memory. He’s averaging 3.81 shots per game with four or more in 21 of his 37 appearances. The Red Wings fall 12th in shots allowed per game as a team too, so the matchup is perfectly fine for Robertson to remain involved. Whether pressuring with shots from afar or getting his stick on pucks in front of the net, he’s converting well on his attempts with 23 goals, tied for the third-most of anyone league-wide as well. With that in mind, I’d also consider him as an anytime goalscorer pick at +140 odds.

Quinn Hughes 2+ points (+185)

It’s a bit of a longer-shot play, but Quinn Hughes’ line for a multi-point outing looks juicy heading into a matchup between the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators. While he’s been on his new team for just over a week, the superstar defensemen has notched a point in three of his five appearances with the Wild thus far and seems to be quickly getting acquainted with his teammates on the top defensive pairing. With strong star options like Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy around, Hughes should have plenty of opportunities to set up teammates for assists, plus he’s already playing on PP1 with the opportunity to quarterback that unit. The Preds are bad, giving up 3.64 goals per game when playing on the road this season. That sets up exactly the kind of environment Minnesota hopes for at home tonight, setting the stage for a big night for Hughes and his first multi-point game in green.
