DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings will head into the NHL’s three-day Christmas break on a roll and in first place in the Atlantic Division.

Dylan Larkin tied the game late in the third period on the power play and then scored 34 seconds into overtime for a 4-3 victory over the Dallas Stars at Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings (22-13-3) have won three in a row and are 7-2-2 in their past 11. Dallas (25-7-6) had its four-game winning streak snapped and remains second overall to Colorado.

John Gibson made 19 saves to win his career-high eighth consecutive game. It’s the longest winning streak for a Red Wings goalie since Chris Osgood won eight in a row in 2007.

Larkin’s game-winner was his 20th goal. James van Riemsdyk scored a goal and added a nifty assist. Emmitt Finnie scored on the power play in the third period. Lucas Raymond tallied assists giving him 30 for the season (41 points). Moritz Seider contributed a pair of assists.

The Red Wings have the next three days off from practice and games before visiting the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network).

Larkin tied it at 3-3 with 4:03 remaining in the third period. Van Riemsdyk set it up with a slick no-look between-the-skates backhand pass past defender Miro Heiskanen.

Finnie tied it at 2-2 on the power play at 3:02 of the third with his ninth goal. He flipped in the rebound of Raymond’s shot.

Van Riemsdyk staked the Red Wings to a 1-0 lead in the first period by flipping in a shot from the side of the net at 9:23. It was his ninth goal.

Michael Rasmussen set it up nicely by lugging the puck up ice, passing to himself off the boards, skating behind the net and making a one-handed pass to van Riemsdyk.

The Stars scored twice in the second period to take a 2-1 lead.

Roope Hintz converted on the power play at 10:47. Jamie Benn drove to the net and fired in a pass from Matt Duchene with 44 seconds remaining in the period.

Dallas took a 3-2 lead on Wyatt Johnston’s power-play goal at 11:18 of the third, before Larkin’s late heroics.
