James van Riemsdyk made amends and the Detroit Red Wings made their way to another victory.

JVR counted a goal and an assist, and Dylan Larkin scored 34 seconds into overtime as Detroit edged the Dallas Stars 4-3 on Tuesday.

It was van Riemsdyk who set up Larkin’s power-play goal to send the game to overtime.

Dallas took a 3-2 lead after van Riemsdyk was called for an offensive zone holding infraction. Wyatt Johnson tipped home Miro Heiskanen’s point shot on the ensuing power play.

Detroit had pulled even at 2-2 early in the third period after a foolish roughing penalty by Dallas forward Justin Hryckowian. Hryckowian dropped his gloves and jumped Detroit defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker after being bodychecked hard into the boards by Bernard-Docker. Emmitt Finnie tallied while Detroit was enjoying that man advantage.
