The Avs are still cruising as they enter the three-day Christmas break. The Canadiens and Panthers both had scoring surges in the third period and the Detroit Red Wings gave the Avalanche a nice gift heading into the break.

Colorado Hockey Now
Imagine back in October thinking that the Avalanche would go into the holiday break with only two regulation losses, none at home, and 13 consecutive wins at Ball Arena.
That is, in fact, the case. It’s been a crazy season to date.
All it took was one unassisted goal on Tuesday.

Detroit Hockey Now:Â The Red Wings continued their impressive run, this time defeating the Dallas Stars 4-3 in OT after trailing late in regulation. They managed this after beating the Washington Capitals twice in two games. Not a bad week for Detroit heading into the break.
As for the Stars, the loss pushes them five points back of Colorado. And the Avs still have two games in hand.
Florida Hockey Now:Â The Panthers are feeling pretty good heading into the break. They were down 2-0 to Carolina after 40 minutes wth little
Montreal Hockey Now: The Habs weren’t trailing in the third period against Boston, but they still went on a crazy scoring spree to head into the break riding a high.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: It’s been a forgettable month for the Penguins, who haven’t allowed less than three goals in a game since Dec. 1. They fought valiantly to get back in thi game against the Leafs but still managed to wind up on the losing end.
Pittsburgh finishes its season series against Toronto 0-3-0.
