Marshall Warren’s NHL journey came full circle Tuesday night when the Laurel Hollow native skated in his first home game with the New York Islanders at UBS Arena.

Warren, 24, has already appeared in three NHL games this season, but all of them came on the road. That changed when the Islanders hosted the New Jersey Devils, giving the Long Island product a homecoming that included a sizable cheering section of friends and family.

“It’s going to be cool, a lot of friends and family in the building,” Warren said before the game. “But obviously the most important thing is to get the win.”

His parents, sister, and several friends, including one group that organized a section of roughly 18 tickets, were in attendance. His father was interviewed during the game by Shannon Hogan on MSG.

The group got to see a thrilling 2-1 Islanders win on home ice, ending a three-game skid before the start of the holiday break. “Played really well, he’s fast, skates well, sees the ice well,” said head coach Patrick Roy. “He’s playing with a lot of confidence and poise out there.”

Warren earned his second recall of the season on Dec. 18 after making his NHL debut with two games in late October. Between recalls, he returned to the Islanders’ AHL affiliate in Bridgeport, where he recorded six points (one goal, five assists) in 12 games.

Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech praised Warren’s energy and competitiveness since rejoining the lineup. “His compete level is super high,” Pelech said. “He’s fast, strong, and he brings a lot of energy. He’s been a welcome addition.”

Warren credits Bridgeport coach Rocky Thompson and his staff for helping refine his game and emphasize detail and accountability. While the homecoming carries personal significance, Warren said his focus remains on earning more opportunities at the NHL level.

“As excited as I am, I want to keep playing,” he said. “That’s the goal.”

He did that last night.
