COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Josh Flynn, a long-standing member of the Columbus Blue Jackets’ hockey operations department, has departed the organization to take on the role of assistant general manager with the Buffalo Sabres. The announcement was made by Blue Jackets President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell.

“On behalf of our organization, I’d like to thank Josh for his many years of hard work and dedication with the Blue Jackets,” Waddell said.

He has been a valuable member of the hockey operations department for 17 years, and I wish he and his wife, Jen, and their family all the best. – Don Waddell

Flynn began his tenure with the Blue Jackets in June 2008, initially serving as director of hockey administration until 2019. He was then promoted to assistant general manager on June 13, 2019, where he played a crucial role in various aspects of the hockey operations department, including salary cap management, contract negotiations, and strategic planning.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are set to return to action Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena.
