The Minnesota Wild gave up a lot to get Quinn Hughes this season, including Marco Rossi, Zeev Buium, Liam Ohgren, and a 2026 first-round pick. The Wild, while staying competitive, need to replenish their roster with some younger talent as some of their veterans are the ones weighing their team down. The Wild appear to have one name in mind on the Philadelphia Flyers. According to Anthony DiMarco, “The Minnesota Wild have shown continued interest in trading for Bobby Brink.” Brink has turned into a player for the Flyers, but the organization also has an embarrassment of riches regarding younger forwards, so they can afford to give some up.
Not only do the Flyers have Matvei Michkov, Trevor Zegras, Denver Barkley, Tyson Foerster, Bobby Brink, and Nikita Grebenkin on their roster, they also have prospects like Jett Luchanko, Portner Martone, and Jack Nesbitt as well. Mixed in with some of their players in their primes and some veterans, this is a team that will have to clear out some players to bolster other areas or the future. Brink is someone who can go for the right deal.
The Wild need to bring in some talent that is getting better, not going the other way like Vladimir Tarasenko, Marcus Foligno, Ryan Hartman, and even Mats Zuccarello who is 38 and Marcus Johansson who is 35. Brink would fit nicely on the third line of the Wild with the potential to play in the top-6 when the better veterans start to fade even more.
The Flyers are two points back of first place in the Metro Division, so they are very much in the race and aren’t necessarily in the business of giving up players that are contributing to their success right now. Brink has nine goals and 17 points in 36 games this season and is on pace to fly by his career high in goals for a season. He is 24 years old and in the final year of a bridge deal at $1.5 million AAV before becoming an RFA at the end of the season. This is a trade that could happen, especially if Foerster comes back to take his role in the top-9.
