Starting today, and continuing almost every Thursday through the end of February, we’ll dive into some of the top offensive performers in each conference.

We’ll pick two players from each conference, provided enough games are played, and highlight the dominant offensive stretch they’ve been on.

Here are the Offensive Players of the Week for Dec. 25.

This page covers all games played from Dec. 18-24.

Big North Conference

Joe Barroquerio, West Milford-Pequannock-Pompton Lakes, Sr.

Barroquerio’s name was all over the stat sheet this past week for the West Milford-Pequannock-Pompton Lakes tri-op. In three games for the Highlanders he recorded five goals and eight points. His best game was in a 5-0 win over Lakeland-Hawthorne-Waldwick when he finished with a hat trick and four points. He also had a goal, and assisted on the game-winning goal, in a crucial 3-2 win over Passaic Tech.

Dylan Ferlanti, Fair Lawn-Bergenfield-Dumont, Sr.

In what was a successful two-win week for the Fair Lawn-Bergenfield-Dumont tri-op, Ferlanti was terrific with six goals and seven points. He had a hat trick in both wins over Montclair and Montville, and finished with four points in the latter game. He scored two shorthanded goals as well, which both came against the Mounties.

CVC

Baptise Demurge, Princeton, So.

Princeton got back into the win column this week and Demurge’s performance was a major reason why. In three games he scored five goals and tallied 11 points to help get the Tigers back up to .500. He had two goals and six assists in a big win over Newton-Lenape Valley, and then had a hat trick and five points against Lawrence.

Jake Lachance, Robbinsville-Allentown, Sr.

Lachance did not slow down one bit this week. In three games the senior finished with a stat line of eight goals and 14 points, and he helped account for over half of the Redbirds’ scoring. He was particularly dominant with six goals and seven points against Steinert, and then had two key assists in a 2-1 win over North Hunterdon-Voorhees.

GMC

Matt DePalma, South-North Brunswick-Monroe, Sr.

DePalma has been one of the best players on what has been one of the most exciting teams to follow in New Jersey so far this season. The senior scored three goals, and added another four assists in three games for the new South-North Brunswick-Monroe tri-op. His best game came in a key 4-1 win over Woodbridge-Colonia-Iselin Kennedy when he had two goals and two assists each.

Joseph Hayes, East Brunswick-Spotswood-South River, Jr.

It was a tough week for the East Brunswick-Spotswood-South River tri-op, but that didn’t stop Hayes from lighting up the scoreboard. The junior was dominant with three goals and six points in two games. In a one-goal loss to Freehold Borough-Raritan-Colts Neck, Hayes gave his team every shot to come out on top after posting two goals and three points.

Gordon Conference

Carter Edmonds, Bergen Catholic, Jr.

Bergen Catholic has shown major improvements after poor results last season, and Edmonds is a big reason why. The Crusaders played just one game, a 5-4 loss to rival and No. 3 Don Bosco Prep, but Edmonds was terrific and scored all four of his team’s goals. He’s going to finish this season with career-high in goals and points.

Preston Ferro, Don Bosco Prep, So.

Is there anything better than scoring a hat trick and the game-winning goal in a rivalry game? Just ask Ferro, because that’s what he accomplished this week. Not only did the sophomore tie the game late in the third period against Bergen Catholic, but scored in overtime to hand Don Bosco Prep a dramatic 5-4 win. He was also dominant throughout the course of the week – he had two goals and three points against Notre Dame (CT) and a hat trick and five points against Pope Francis (MA).

MCSSIHL

John Gonnella, Morristown-Beard, Sr.

Gonnella did it all from an offensive perspective this week for Morristown-Beard. The Crimson won all three of its games over Morristown, Randolph, and Seton Hall Prep, and the senior scored a goal in each game and had 10 total points. His top performance came in the comeback 4-3 win over the Pirates in overtime. With the Crimson trailing late, he scored to cut into the deficit, assisted on Marcus Cassidy’s tying goal, and then assisted on Evan Redman’s game winner in overtime.

Colin Mullooly, Park Regional, Sr.

It was a wild week for the Park Regional co-op and Mullooly was at the center of it. The Wildcats pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the state this season when it defeated Chatham 9-4, and the senior scored five goals and finished with eight points. It was a career-high performance, and was particularly impressive since he came into this season having never scored a hat trick before. One day later, he scored another hat trick in a 5-4 loss to Oratory Prep.

NJIIHL

Alex Fiermonte, Bayonne-Belleville-McNair, Sr.

Fiermonte was a scoring machine in two games last week for the Bayonne-Belleville-McNair. The senior had two goals and three points in a win over Morris Catholic, and then was dominant with four goals and six points in a 7-1 win over Vernon.

Matthew Zocks, Livingston, Sr.

Zocks tore up opposing defenses in three games last week. He finished with at least two points in wins over Chatham, West Morris, and Ridge, and scored two goals against the Cougars and the Red Devils. Livingston’s offense has scored 26 goals over its last four games and Zocks has been one of its best players over that span.

Shore Conference

John Honovic, Manalapan, Jr.

Manalapan picked up its first two wins of the season this week, and Honovic played a key role in both. Across three games the junior scored seven goals and had 10 points, and he also led the entire Shore Conference in scoring for this week. He scored a goal and had three points in the Braves first win of the season, a 5-2 result over Middletown South. Five days later he did all of the Braves’ scoring in a 4-3 win over Old Bridge.

Chris Lash, Central Regional, So.

Lash showed a dominant scoring touch this week. Central Regional played two games, and the sophomore scored five goals between both of them. He gave the Eagles every chance to win with two goals in a one-goal loss to West Windsor United, and then provided a hat trick in a 6-5 win over Newton-Lenape Valley.

Skyland Conference

Alex Abolenskiy, Bridgewater-Raritan, Jr.

Abolenskiy could not be stopped in Bridgewater-Raritan’s last three games. He started the week with three goals and six points in a 7-1 win over Pingry, and then saved the Panthers from a loss with a late goal in a 2-2 tie with Hillsborough. He ended the week with one of the best performances of anyone this season. He had a hat trick, and scored the go-ahead goal in a come from behind 6-4 win over No. 7 Westfield.

Griffin Dunn, Hunterdon Central, Sr.

Dunn’s senior year is off to a great start. He had two goals in a close loss to Hopewell Valley-Montgomery last Thursday, and then he exploded for a hat trick in a 10-2 win over Freehold Township in what was a nice bounce back result for the Red Devils. He’s on pace to finish with a career-high in goals and points this season.

Girls Hockey

Eloise Downes, Morristown, Sr.

Congratulations are in order for Downes, who scored the first goal in Morristown girls ice hockey’s first win. The senior, who is also a star goalie on the girls lacrosse team, scored four goals for the Colonials in a 9-4 win over Chatham-Millburn-Livingston tri-op. She opened the scoring in the first period, and then proceeded to scored at least one more time in the remaining periods.

Marina Boyajian, Hoboken-Weehawken-Secaucus, Sr.

Boyajian’s name was a constant one in the scorebook this week for the Hoboken-Weehawken-Secaucus tri-op. The senior netted a goal and finished with four assists in a 10-0 win over Newark East Side last Friday. Two days later she performed even better with four goals and seven points in an 11-1 win over Cranford.
