Detroit Red Wings forward prospect Max Plante will look to win consecutive gold medals for the United States at the World Junior Championship, which starts today in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minn.

Plante is among five Red Wings prospects in the tournament.

Plante (5-11, 170) had a goal and two assists in six World Junior games last year when the U.S. defeated Finland for its third gold medal in five years.

The Red Wings selected Plante, a skilled playmaker, in the second round in 2024 (47th overall) after two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program.

The tournament runs from today to Jan. 5.
