It’s late December, LA Kings fans! And with that comes everyone’s favorite time of the year: The Holidays and World Juniors! This year’s World Juniors will see six Kings prospects represent their country.
Below are the six Kings prospects who will be in the World Juniors:
Liam Greentree and Carter George will represent Canada
The Kings’ first and second round picks from the 2024 draft class will represent Canada at the U-20 (under 20) World Juniors. Both are in their last year of eligibility for the tournament. Like last year, Carter George is expected to be the number-one goalie for Team Canada, who will be looking to redeem themselves after bowing out in the quarterfinals against Czechia last year.
Liam Greentree was left off Canada’s roster last year, one of many questionable roster decisions the team made, but he made the final cut this year. He has been deployed as a bottom-six forward during the tune-up games and is projected to have that role based on how Canada’s lines were aligned at practice on Thursday.
Team Canada’s lines for their second pre-tournament game against Sweden:
McKenna – Misa – Martone
Iginla – Hage – Martin
Reschny – Beaudoin – Luchanko
Greentree – Cootes – O’Reilly
Desnoyers
Reid – Parekh
Aitcheson – Brunicke
MacKenzie – Danford
Carels
Ivankovic

Carter George is expected to be Canada’s No. 1 at the #WorldJuniors again.
He was great last year, has already looked good against pros and is ready to challenge for top goalie honors in Minnesota.

Brendan McMorrow makes Team USA
The Kings had two prospects earn a spot on Team USA’s preliminary roster in Henry Brzustewicz and Brendan McMorrow. Brzustewicz was one of the final cuts, but McMorrow made the roster. If McMorrow plays, I expect him to serve as a bottom-six forward as the USA will look to secure the gold medal for the third straight year.

Vojtěch Čihař & Jan Chovan will represent Czechia and Slovakia
Vojtěch Čihař (Czechia) and Jan Chovan (Slovakia) will be participating in this year’s tournament as well. After the tournament, Čihař will report to the Kelowna Rockets (WHL), paving the route for him to begin his career in North America.
CIHAR IS A ROCKET! 🚀
The Kelowna Rockets announced today that they have officially signed import forward Vojtech Cihar, a 2025 second-round pick of the LA Kings who recently signed his NHL entry-level contract yesterday.

Showtime back in Finland
Finland will be getting a key piece from their 2025 World Junior roster. Petteri Rimpinen, aka ‘Showtime,’ is expected to be Finland’s number-one goalie after a stellar performance last winter, helping lead Finland to a silver medal.

Rimpinen, an athletic goalie, stole the show in last year’s tournament and earned best goalie and all-tournament honors for his play. Also, he’ll be featuring an awesome design on his pads, glove, and blocker during the tournament.
