The Islanders ended a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 2-1 victory over the visiting New Jersey Devils. David Rittich made 31 saves while Adam Pelech scored the game-winning goal with 1:15 remaining in the third period. Simon Holmstrom tied the game 12:10 into the second period and assisted on Pelech’s go-ahead marker.
Panarin leads the Rangers with 14 goals and 38 points, while Mika Zibanejad has 12 goals. Igor Shesterkin leads the NHL with 16 wins in 30 starts, going 16-11-3 with a shutout, a .908 save percentage, and 2.55 goals against average. The Islanders hope to get Bo Horvat, who leads the club with 19 goals and 31 points, back from a lower-body injury that has sidelined him since Dec. 11. Emil Heineman has 12 goals for the Isles while Ilya Sorokin, who has an undisclosed injury that sidelined him on Tuesday, is 12-10-2 in 24 starts with three shutouts, a .910 save percentage and 2.55 GAA.
