The Chicago Blackhawks return from the Christmas freeze to face one of the league’s best in the Dallas Stars in their own building.
The Christmas break has come to an end and the Chicago Blackhawks are looking for answers. Not only are they looking for answers on offense in wake of the Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar absences, but they are looking for answers in the win column. Chicago rides a six-game losing streak into Dallas on Saturday.
Chicago Blackhawks at Dallas Stars Preview
The Dallas Stars are one of the NHL’s best teams this season. The Stars are the second-best team in the league, only behind the Colorado Avalanche. New addition Mikko Rantanen is off to a hot start, leading the team with 51 points. In addition, Dallas’ depth is crazy, featuring names like Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston, Miro Heiskanen, and Roope Hintz. The defense is strong as well with names like Thomas Harley and Esa Lindell in the mix.
Without a doubt, this is Chicago’s toughest test for the foreseeable future on the schedule. Also worth noting, the Blackhawks’ first time hitting the ice will be in warmups, as the team cancelled morning skate due to the travel rules associated with the Christmas freeze.
Ahead of the game, the Blackhawks recalled forward Landon Slaggert from the Rockford IceHogs. Its easy to imagine that he cracks the lineup to add some energy in the bottom six on Saturday or Sunday, when the Blackhawks return home to face the Pittsburgh Penguins.
